Consider what is important

Remember when I said 2011 starts off crappy? It just gets worse.

Last week a friend of mine lost his hearing in one ear. The doctors did an MRI and they found a tumour in his brain. I don't know what to say to him. He's one of those guys that has always been sweet to me, and protective of me. Now he has this condition, and I don't know the first thing to say to comfort him.

When I was sick, I didn't so much need comfort as I needed company, which reassured me that I was still in the land of the living and there was not a great chasm separating me from the healthy. I don't know your friend at all, but I offer this observation in case it is useful to you. xoxo

try to keep him company if you can. i feel that it is not so much of the words said. though the first things that comes into our mind is to hope to say something to make him feel better.no word could describle. the best is to keep him company and surround with kind comfort of people. we are not alone in our pain. Take care quietletters

@quietletters - he is the sort of guy that needs his space though. we'll see.
