From The Star:
The Government is targeting to have Malaysians read at least 10 books yearly from 2010.
According to a survey, Malaysians only read an average of five books last year, Culture, Arts and Heritage Deputy Minister Datuk Wong Kam Hoong said in Penang yesterday.
Obvious jokes aside, 10 books a year is pathetic. What do they do, these people who do not read?

I want to know how they figured this out. Are there no public libraries there????
Very pitiful indeed. I wonder how it compares with other countries though?
Is there some international survey of book reading habits available? I can't imagine reading only 10 books a year myself.
What do you do with all that time on the bus? And while waiting for friends who are always late?
