The nominations for the Golden Globes are out. That time of the year when we allow people whom we do not know to decide for the world what counts as the best films of the year.
A few things caught my eye. One of them is the nominations for Best Original Score:
Michael Brook, Kaki King, Eddie Vedder, Into the Wild;
Clint Eastwood, Grace Is Gone;
Alberto Iglesias, The Kite Runner;
Dario Marianelli, Atonement;
Howard Shore, Eastern Promises.
How did Kaki King sneak in there without my notice? And it's for the soundtrack of Into the Wild?
I find myself slowly warming to the Into the Wild soundtrack, which has Eddie Vedder (remember Pearl Jam?) playing a variety of acoustic instruments over 11 short tracks. He also covers Indio's "Hard Sun," which also features backing vocals by Sleater-Kinney's Corin Tucker. (Did I mention I love Sleater-Kinney?)

I love Eddie Vedder's clear, strong vocals on this track. The album will be playing on repeat for a while.

Simply adore Eddie Vedder. Pearl Jam's cover of Last kiss was one of my favourite of all times. ; )
Oh, I want this soundtrack too. Pearl Jam were one of my favourite bands growing up, and even though I don't listen to them very often these days they'll always hold a special place in my heard.
I've had friends recommend Kaki King to me before. I've only listened to a song or two, but I did like what I heard.
As soon as we saw the film my husband came home to order the soundtrack. It's great. Have you seen the film? It's wonderful.

you know, the concept of this film interests me. even though i don't know if i could watch it (unless it happened to come on while i was in front of the tv), i do like the idea and i can imagine a soundtrack would be very good.
and, of course, i like eddie vedder!! :D
