New York Times interviews with Marjane Satrapi, whose graphic novel, Persepolis has been adapted into a motion picture.
She turns out to be quite ballsy and interesting. Unapologetic about her smoking, and about living:
Smoking kills you, but life kills you, and if you don’t want to die, go into a freezer when you are born and nothing will happen to you.

She does sound very interesting. I've been meaning to read Persepolis for a long time. I think I'll check it out from the library tomorrow.
She's definitely opinated - but in an interesting, no-bullshit way. I'm also motivated to check out persepolis too. From the library. ;)
Ha! I love Marjane Satrapi. She's such a firecracker. The first interview of hers that I read was over at Bookslut, and a lot of that unapologetic self-assuredness came through.
Persepolis was the One Book, One Community read for Wilmington, NC in September. There were lots of interesting events swirling around.
Can't wait to check out the movie.
Someone was kind enough to send me a link to the interview yesterday and I was most impressed with the lady. She's not at all afraid to speak her mind and she really does have some very interesting things to say. I can't wait to see Persepolis the movie.
Andi & Lotus I'm also looking forward to the movie - but there doesn't seem to be a confirmed release date over here yet. :(
