MUSIC | Walk Like An Egyptian

Let me just torment some of you guys with a song that has been playing in my head recently. I am a child of the '80s -- the era of some pretty groovy music with very BIG hair. I still can't get over the big hair.

Here's The Bangles performing Walk Like An Egyptian. I love the whistle bit. Oh, and that Egyptian walk :)

Heh...when I was a kid I made my parents go out and hunt down the 45 of this single for me...and I got it ;) They're still playing you know! They just played in New Orleans.

That was fun! I remember lining up with my daughters and "walking like an Egyptian" around the house. I love the whistling bit, too. And glad to know that they are still around, Chris.

Walk like an Egyptian always reminds me of high school. Every Friday in choir we would watch a tape of Friday Night Videos from the week before that our teacher would tape off of television, and for weeks Walk was one of those songs. Manic Monday was as well for a loooong time. I loved the Bangles then and because I still maintain my love of 80's tunes I love them now. Susanna Hoffs....yum!

Chris They are still around? With all the original band members? I had the impression Susanna Hoffs went off and started her solo career and they broken up.

Thanks for the info.

Hah. They are still playing. Who knew?

Jenclair Hee. How old were your daughters? But it is fun to do the Egyptian walk around the house. If your daughters are sporting girls, that it. :)

Carl Oh yes, The Bangles. I was listening to Susanna Hoffs singing "Eternal Flame" (another Bangles favourite) - I remember the 80s music quite well - Belinda Carlile, Debbie Gibson, Tiffany

Actually, I think I still have my Best of Debbie Gibson CD somewhere in the house...

Now that's a pleasant little blast from the past ... I dragged my "i love neil young/loudin wainwright" roomie to see them in Greensboro Coliseum sometime around 1980 ... one of my favorite concerts ever ... who knew you could fall in love with the whites of someone's eyes?

woyo chris oh yeah - it was sheer fun just to watch and listen to the old music video over and over. Every generation goes through this, I suppose, some musical nostalgia. But I wonder ten years from now, what will be the bands that they will look back on?

"who knew you could fall in love with the whites of someone's eyes?" -- you know what, Chris? You have a way with words that just makes me smile.
